A man killed his family's pet rabbit early Friday during a fight with his wife at their North Lufkin home, police said.

The man, whose name was not available Friday afternoon, allegedly killed the animal because his wife wouldn't let him into their apartment when he came home at 3 a.m., Lufkin Police Lt. Greg Denman.

Once she let him in, the husband allegedly choked and slapped her, the report stated.

An investigation is ongoing. The man could be facing charges for domestic assault and animal cruelty, Denman said.

A 31-year-old man was attacked and hit in the head with a baseball bat just after midnight Thursday in the 200 block of Jack Street by a group of men and boys ages 15-21, a police report stated.

A Nacogdoches woman who applied for a Red Cross debit card never received it, although records show it had been used, according to a police report filed Thursday.

A man learned from his bank that his debit card, taken from his apartment in the 2000 block of South First Street, had been used at a Las Vegas Target store, according to a police report filed Thursday.

A man used a $100 bill to buy hair gel Thursday at Smart Salon, 2500 Daniel McCall Drive, but left with both the change and the $100 bill, the report stated.

A woman's ex-common-law husband threw her to the ground Thursday during an argument at First Christian Church, 1300 S. First St., a police report stated.

A woman claimed a clerk at Family Dollar Store, 730 S. Timberland Drive, took an envelope of cash she left on the counter Thursday afternoon, a police report stated.

A woman's brother-in-law slammed a car door on her ankle Thursday morning in the 100 block of Percy Simond, a police report stated.

A woman used a counterfeit $100 bill to pay for $10 worth of gas and a box of hot wings Thursday night at a store in the 1900 block of West Frank Avenue, a police report stated.

A customer canceled a check Sept. 30 before paying for work done at Deisel Diagnostics, 1512 Atkinson Drive, a police report stated.

The Lufkin Police Department made two arrests late Thursday and three early Friday. Arrests and charges included: Matthew Nichols, 23, probation revocation for possession of a controlled substance and indecency with a child; Sheryl Lounsberry, 57, telephone harassment; Anthony Ray Lucas, 50, expired plates, no registration, no driver's license and no insurance; and Reginald Hamilton, 44, parole violation.

The Huntington Police Department made two arrests late Thursday and two early Friday. Arrests and charges included: Marshall Hamilton, 54, probation revocation; Robert Geldad, 23, interfering with an emergency call; Brod Dewey, 29, public intoxication; and Majorski Yarbrough, 27, driving while intoxicated.

The Angelina County Sheriff's Office made one arrest late Thursday and one early Friday. Arrests and charges included: Angela Tomie, 39, judgment for second offense of DWI; and Monica R. Jones, 36, federal detainee.

The Angelina County Jail housed 245 inmates as of 2 p.m. Friday.
