Thursday January 12, 2006
ST. JOHNSBURY VT - An 18-year-old man who was found guilty of animal cruelty charges January 4 was arraigned in Caledonia District Court Thursday afternoon on a new charge of sexual assault.
Jeffrey Plourde of Lyndonville pleaded not guilty to the sexual assault
count, as well as additional charges of domestic assault and violation of conditions of release.
Plourde's name became well known in late 2004 when he was accused of torturing Kacy, a chocolate Labrador retriever. On Thursday he was accused of sexually assaulting his 17-year-old girlfriend, the result of a joint investigation by Lyndonville police and state police.
Lyndonville Police Chief Jack Harris said in a statement released Wednesday that a second individual is expected to be accused in the sexual assault.
The incident occurred over the New Year's weekend and was reported after the victim was able to get back to her family residence and out of the area, Harris said.
